We're partnering with a leading digital sports media organisation to find a Senior Software Engineer for their Content Management engineering team — the group building the backend services, APIs, and CMS infrastructure powering sports news, editorial workflows, and personalized fan experiences across web, mobile, and digital platforms. This is a senior-level role with strong backend ownership across PHP/Symfony, content platforms, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern CMS architecture. What you'll own: Designing and building scalable content management services and APIs Developing backend systems that help editors create richer, data-driven sports content Working across PHP, Symfony, Composer, Twig, REST, and GraphQL services Modernizing legacy backend systems into cloud-ready frameworks Supporting CMS platform consolidation across business units Integrating AI/ML workflows for content classification, video/image annotation, and smarter distribution Modeling complex data flows and schemas for editorial and consumer-facing experiences Driving reliability through testing, monitoring, observability, and alerting Collaborating closely with product, design, DevOps, and editorial stakeholders You bring: Strong PHP development experience, especially with Symfony Experience building REST and GraphQL APIs in microservices environments Solid SQL skills and experience with RDBMS platforms Exposure to search technologies like Solr or Elasticsearch Cloud and container experience across AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes Strong understanding of OOP, backend architecture, and scalable service design Experience with caching or messaging systems such as Redis, Memcached, Kafka, or RabbitMQ Strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support skills Clear communication and comfort working with cross-functional teams Nice to have: Experience with CMS platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, or Magento Working knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, React, or Next.js Exposure to Golang or Rust for performance-critical services AWS, GCP, or OCI certifications A genuine interest in sports media and fan experiences #J-18808-Ljbffr
