About The Role As Electronics technical lead in the Electrical Center of Excellence group, you will be responsible for defining, guiding and ensuring the quality of technical decisions related to sustaining, validation & standardization of electronic solutions within the COE. You will also support the embedded electronic hardware sustaining and platform direction for the Carrier Commercial, Residential and Transicold division. The candidate will lead and or support Sustaining projects for Embedded Refrigeration Control Systems based upon current business priorities and in collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Key Responsibilities Support Product Sustaining efforts by evaluating and implementing hardware changes, modifications, upgrades and field retrofits for released products to address customer needs and component obsolescence. Review and validate embedded SW driver for robustness and functionality for manufacturing and qualification testing. Support embedded hardware sustaining, quality and root cause analysis reviews. Generate, support and implement Electronic Change Notices (ECN). Interface with customers, third‑party laboratories, reliability, validation and manufacturing teams to support test plan validation. Mentor and technically develop less experienced engineers to ensure that quality standards are met. Act as technical authority for electronics & electrical systems. Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering with 7+ years of experience, or Master of Science degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. Extensive demonstrated individual contributor experience in the sustaining of embedded electronic control systems throughout a product’s entire life and continuous improvement cycles. Experience in electronic product troubleshooting to determine root cause analysis by interpreting schematics and product specifications. Experience in the sustaining of high‑volume embedded electronic controls for industrial or automotive markets. Electronic component selection, architecture selection, circuit design, design analysis, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout and bill of material creation. Experience with Cadence, Altium or other equivalent electronic system design software. Excellent functional knowledge of electronic components and circuits including microprocessors, microcontrollers, op‑amps, regulators, standard digital logic ICs, discrete components, and arrays. Microcontroller and microprocessor pin and register configuration and basic embedded C/C++ programming knowledge. Experience in analog signal conditioning and analog‑to‑digital conversion using discrete components and integrated circuits. Experience in high‑speed digital circuitry, bus architecture and communication ports using discrete components and integrated circuits. Knowledge of AC‑to‑DC and DC‑DC power supply sustaining. Thorough knowledge of DFMEA and electrical stress analysis calculations/process, qualification of embedded electronic controls. Relentless root cause/troubleshooting. Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills. Self‑motivated. Thorough understanding of electronic test equipment such as DVMs, oscilloscopes and power supplies. Excellent oral communication and written documentation and presentation skills using MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Travel: 10% (North America). Benefits Competitive health insurance program.
