Job Overview This position is part of the UW support career progression and reports to a Senior Specialist, UW Support, Team Leader, or Team Manager, Underwriting Support. The UW Assistant is an individual contributor within the Underwriting Support Unit of the product field operations. The role involves developing knowledge of underwriting support processes, risk analysis, and operational drivers. Responsibilities Handle complex accounts and provide technical guidance to junior support staff, working under moderate supervision. Partner with regional underwriters and senior UW Support staff in processing new and renewal business, evaluating submissions, and following up on outstanding items. Collaborate with underwriters and CoE partners to develop tailored solutions. Identify and resolve account alerts and blocks to prevent conflicts. Forward lines of business to Shared Services for rating, as per instructions. Train and demonstrate proficiency in underwriting systems. Perform data analytics, document preparation, and review location data, loss information, and financial statements for quote development. Assist with issuing quotes, policies, endorsements, and cancellations within timelines. Prepare policy writing instructions and manage bureau critiques. Support underwriters with broker follow-ups and system updates. Track premium bookings and policy issuance to meet metrics, escalating issues as needed. Apply underwriting rules for submission pre-analysis. Communicate account status to ensure completion of outstanding items. Engage proactively with clients and maintain accurate files. Attend meetings and meet service level agreements. Minimum Requirements 1-3 years of insurance experience or relevant education. Ability to navigate multiple systems efficiently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Willingness to learn and adapt. Strong client service orientation. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
