Position Overview The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing production planning, material procurement, inventory optimization, and supplier coordination to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role works cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, production, logistics, engineering, and suppliers to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules while balancing cost, quality, and inventory targets. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, ERP/MRP experience, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume manufacturing environment with changing customer demands and production priorities. Key Responsibilities Manage production planning activities to support manufacturing schedules, customer demand, and inventory objectives Execute purchasing activities for raw materials, components, and indirect materials based on MRP requirements and forecast demand Monitor inventory levels, safety stock, lead times, and material availability to prevent production disruptions Coordinate directly with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, shortages, expedites, quality concerns, and capacity constraints Analyze demand fluctuations and adjust purchasing and planning strategies accordingly Maintain accurate planning parameters, item master data, and supplier information within ERP/MRP systems Collaborate with production, warehouse, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure on-time delivery performance Support S&OP and forecasting activities through reporting and material planning analysis Track and report KPIs including inventory turns, supplier performance, on-time delivery, shortages, and production attainment Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and supply chain optimization Participate in cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and excess/obsolete inventory reduction initiatives Support new product launches, engineering changes, and supplier transitions as required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred 3+ years of experience in buyer/planner, production planning, materials planning, or supply chain roles within manufacturing Experience in automotive, electronics, industrial, medical device, or high-volume manufacturing environments preferred Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management principles Experience with SAP, Oracle, Epicor, JD Edwards, or similar ERP platforms preferred Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Strong communication and supplier management skills Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Preferred Experience Experience supporting maquiladora manufacturing operations Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies APICS/CPIM certification is a plus Experience managing international suppliers and logistics coordination
