Mexico Statutory Accounting & Compliance Own and maintain the plant’s standard cost system, including material, labor, and overhead rates. Lead annual and periodic cost rolls, including analysis, documentation, and approval support. Prepare and analyze manufacturing variances (PPV, usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption) and clearly explain results to plant leadership. Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliations, cycle counts, and reserve analysis. Support month end close activities related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and accruals. Develop and maintain cost accounting procedures and internal controls. Continuous Improvement & Operational Partnership Partner with Operations to identify and quantify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities. Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, value stream improvements) with strong financial rigor. Translate operational changes into financial impact models and post implementation tracking. Improve accuracy and usefulness of operational KPIs, dashboards, and reporting used by plant leadership. Challenge existing processes and drive simplification, automation, and standardization in costing and reporting. Planning, Forecasting & Decision Support Provide financial analysis for make/buy decisions, capital projects, sourcing initiatives, and product changes. Support budgeting, forecasting, and long range planning with a strong understanding of plant cost drivers. Act as a financial liaison between the plant and corporate finance teams. Educate non finance stakeholders on cost behavior, variances. Leadership & Governance Lead and develop cost accounting staff (if applicable), setting clear expectations and development plans. Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and external reporting standards. Drive a culture of accountability, data accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance function. Education/Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred. Experience 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing cost accounting. Proven experience partnering with manufacturing operations. Prior experience in a plant-based finance leadership role preferred. Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement frameworks preferred. ERP experience in a manufacturing environment required. Hard Skills Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accounting, and GAAP. Advanced Excel Skills.
