Job Description Summary Diagnose, correct, and prevent problems related to plastic injection process, as well as execute preventive maintenance activities for molding machines. Works with Sr. Molding Engineer to maintain molds, machines and peripheral equipment ready for production, and maintains required documentation. Key Responsibilities Set up assigned molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment (water thermoregulator, dryers, robots, mold heaters, etc.), including changing tools, verifying materials, performing basic preventive mold maintenance, and machine safety verifications, while maintaining updated documentation. Monitor assigned work cell, observing overall process and quality of molded parts. Diagnose and fix root causes of quality issues, making required adjustments to the machine and controls to maintain proper quality and cycle efficiency. Document all machine adjustments on process run sheets and maintain a valid process. Use knowledge of molding processes, experience working with molding thermoplastic resin and LSR, machines, and auxiliary equipment. Diagnose and correct faults in injection machines Arburg, BOY, Nissei, Engel, and auxiliary equipment (PLC, Vision System). Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and auxiliary equipment, keeping PM documentation updated. Interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams to correct faults. Familiarize machine operators with the equipment. Communicate with the production leader to follow up on programming of model changes, coordinate with the tool room and lead operator to ensure efficient operation. Comply with all department attendance and performance policies. Comply with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations. Perform other department duties assigned by the Engineering Department. Qualifications Electromechanical Technical Degree. 3–5 years of minimum experience in plastic processing, with knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams and general mechanical work. Ability to solve troubleshooting processes. Basic computer knowledge, ability to work with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Experience in scientific molding/Kaizen Methodology/5S, including changing molds, material handling, and operating an injection molding machine. Ability to fill in for the shift supervisor on occasions. Knowledge and ability to use measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, micrometers, comparators, and shop machinery such as lathes, mills, and crane/hoist.
