Role Title: Cloud Migration Expert — Lead Consultant Engagement Type Fixed-Term Contract (4 Months) Start Date To be confirmed upon selection Location Hybrid / On-site as required Reporting To Program Director Rate / Compensation Negotiable — commensurate with experience Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Migration Expert to join our team as Lead Consultant for a 4-month engagement. In this role, you will own the end-to-end strategy, architecture, and execution of our cloud migration initiative, ensuring workloads are transitioned securely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to business operations. You will work directly with executive stakeholders, engineering teams, and third-party vendors to deliver a migration roadmap aligned with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and cost-optimization targets. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Planning Define and own the end-to-end cloud migration strategy and roadmap Assess current on-premises and hybrid infrastructure, applications, and data Identify migration patterns (rehost, replatform, refactor, retire, retain) per workload Establish governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks for the migration Develop a comprehensive business case including TCO and ROI analysis Architecture & Design Design target-state cloud architecture aligned with best practices Define network topology, identity & access management (IAM), and security controls Ensure architecture meets performance, scalability, high availability, and DR requirements Establish cloud landing zone and account/subscription structure Execution & Delivery Lead and coordinate migration waves, sprint planning, and dependency management Oversee data migration, application cutover, and validation testing Drive cloud-native tooling adoption (IaC, CI/CD, observability, cost management) Manage migration risks, issues, and escalation paths proactively Stakeholder Management Act as primary point of contact for executive sponsors and business unit leads Present progress updates, risk reports, and post-migration outcomes to leadership Facilitate workshops and working sessions with technical and non-technical stakeholders Coordinate with vendors, cloud provider representatives, and managed service providers Knowledge Transfer & Closure Document architecture decisions, runbooks, and operational playbooks Mentor internal cloud engineering team to sustain operations post-engagement Deliver final migration assessment, lessons learned, and optimization recommendations Required Qualifications Experience 7+ years in IT infrastructure, architecture, or cloud engineering roles 5+ years leading large-scale cloud migration programs in an enterprise environment Demonstrated experience migrating 100+ workloads or complex multi-tier applications Prior lead consultant or principal architect experience in a client-facing capacity Technical Skills Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or Pulumi) Strong knowledge of networking, security, IAM, and compliance in cloud environments Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, GKE) Familiarity with DevOps toolchains: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, ArgoCD Hands-on experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices Certifications (Required — at least one) AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert Google Professional Cloud Architect TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture certification (preferred) Engagement Timeline & Deliverables The 4-month engagement is structured in four phases.
