DESCRIPCIÓN GENERAL DEL PUESTO (General Job Description) The Controls Engineer enables safe, reliable, and connected manufacturing at the Acuña site by designing, implementing, commissioning, and sustaining industrial control systems (PLC/HMI/Robotics) and Industry 4.0 data solutions (Ignition SCADA/MES connectivity). This role delivers measurable improvements in uptime, quality, throughput, and cost by modernizing controls, standardizing practices, and expanding machine/cell connectivity to support data‑driven operations. RESPONSABILIDADES (Key Responsibilities) Lead controls design activities; author, review, and execute design controls and commissioning plans. Develop, test, and optimize PLC/HMI/Robotics control solutions for equipment, cells, and lines. Implement and sustain Ignition SCADA/MES solutions for the Acuña site: connectivity, dashboards, alarms, historian, and data quality. Drive machine and cell connectivity to Ignition through sensors/IIoT devices and OT integration; ensure stable, secure, and supportable architectures. Develop control system graphics and configure control databases/tags; establish standards for naming, version control, backup/restore, and access governance. Own, maintain, and approve electrical schematics (new and existing equipment); provide markups and direction for project drawings (CAD as required). Act as technical consultant for capital projects: feasibility, risk assessment, specification support, FAT/SAT, and startup support. Perform controls system assessments to improve equipment reliability; recommend hardware/software upgrades and modernization roadmaps. Troubleshoot complex downtime issues; elevate appropriately and restore operation with disciplined root‑cause and corrective actions. Partner cross-functionally (Operations, Quality, Maintenance, IT/OT) to define sensor, computing, network, redundancy, and cybersecurity requirements. Provide complete documentation deliverables: HMI projects, alarm/fault lists (Excel/CSV), as‑built drawings, and change logs. Support continuous improvement using digital KPIs (e.g., downtime, scrap, throughput/OEE) and translate insights into line actions. Promote safe work by following all safety procedures; ensure interlocks and safeguards are implemented per internal standards. Ensure compliance with applicable internal processes and Newell Brands controls/HMI and machine specifications. CONOCIMIENTOS, HABILIDADES Y EXPERIENCIA (Knowledge, Skills & Experience) Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanoelectrical Engineering, Electrical/Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing automation / controls. Proficiency with PLC & HMI platforms (Rockwell/RSLogix or equivalent); strong troubleshooting and commissioning capability. Hands‑on experience with Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation) including tag structures, alarming, dashboards, historian, and basic scripting. Experience integrating robotics (e.g., Fanuc) and industrial devices (vision, sensors, safety, drives) into production systems. Fluent in industrial communication protocols and data concepts (OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, SQL/historian) used for integration and reporting. Comfortable with algorithm design, programmable logic practices, interlocks, and safe machine behavior. Strong problem‑solving mindset; continuous improvement orientation; ability to document and standardize work. Effective communication in cross‑functional settings; able to train and support technicians/operators. Willingness to support off‑shift needs during critical startups or major downtime events (as required).
