The Role The Private Duty Nursing (PDN) Scheduler coordinates and optimizes nursing staff schedules to ensure high-quality patient care. The role supports operational efficiency by managing staffing needs, overseeing care plan recertifications, training staff on electronic systems, and maintaining communication with healthcare providers, patients, and families. Eligibility Highly organized, detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities Develop, manage, and maintain nursing schedules based on patient care needs, staff availability, and regulatory requirements. Respond to last‑minute call‑offs, schedule changes, and staffing shortages while ensuring full patient coverage. Prepare and share care schedules with patients and families as needed. Ensure scheduling practices comply with applicable healthcare regulations and internal policies. Communicate schedule updates, changes, and confirmations with staff, patients, and families. Plan of Care (POC) Recertification Monitor and coordinate the recertification process for patient care plans to ensure continuity of care. Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and case managers to obtain required documentation and approvals. Send care plan orders to physicians and relevant parties and track their completion. Review and maintain accurate records of returned and approved documentation. Generate reports to track outstanding care plan approvals and follow up to ensure timely completion. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Training & Support Train new and existing staff on the use of the EMR system. Monitor compliance with documentation standards and ensure timely and accurate record‑keeping. Provide ongoing support to staff for EMR‑related questions and troubleshooting. Documentation Oversight Track and report incomplete or missing clinical documentation. Follow up with nursing staff to ensure all records are completed accurately and on time. Communication & Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for nursing staff regarding scheduling, onboarding, and compliance. Ideal Profile Experience in healthcare scheduling. Knowledge of nursing practices. Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work under pressure.
