Sr. Underwriter Property We are AIG, a leading global insurance organization. This position supports the growth and profitability of the Property Senior Underwriter function, focusing on portfolio management, new business acquisition, and operational excellence. Position Overview This underwriter will manage a portfolio of USD 8M in GPW (2023 GPW data), contribute to portfolio management activities and accounting closing activities. The role is critical to generate new business opportunities, meet budget goals, and support a 3‑year business plan growth of 16% for 2024 and 5% for 2025 and 2026. The position requires 3 years of experience, a positive attitude, ambition for new business, Excel knowledge, analysis skills, soft skills, and fluent English. Duties and Responsibilities Quote submissions. Build a profitable portfolio. Ensure underwriting and operational excellence across all business by adhering to underwriting methodology, risk appetite, line setting, guidelines, business rules and pricing adequacy. Promote synergies among all distribution, underwriting teams and support staff. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, producers, reinsurers and other partners. Maintain portfolio requests in a timely response to issuance team requirements, meeting SLAs. Collaborate with other AIG areas: provide claims information without partaking in claim determination, advise brokers with distribution teams, and instruct operations on issuance movements. Maintain a properly documented underwriter information profile, including summary, authorization, analysis and other required documentation. Attend external clients to promote, train agents and brokers, reinforcing business line strategy and increasing new business opportunities. Approach and collaborate with internal areas to resolve services outside response times and close them in a timely manner under underwriter authority. Participate in assigned projects such as operational automation processes and other initiatives requiring underwriter participation. Achieve individual goals with annual budget discipline (monthly monitoring). Contribute to team goals for new business strategy and retention portfolio as established in the annual goal (monthly monitoring). Ensure proper accomplishment of underwriting guidelines. Achieve SLA compliance for all business requests. Attend internal and external clients that require underwriting support. Participate actively in projects involving underwriting participation. Leadership Skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Good presentation skills and file knowledge. Time management – ability to manage & prioritize workload and diary management. Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment and with internal/external stakeholders at all levels. Ability to assist with technical training to team claim handlers as required. Ability to influence claims and non-claims stakeholders to direct claims strategy effectively. Technical Skills and Expertise Office Package: Intermediate or advanced level of Excel, Word, Outlook. Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial, Engineering, Administration, or similar field. What We’re Looking For Experience: At least 3 years of experience in Middle and Industrial Market Underwriting or knowledge of Property Terms & Conditions. Medium to advanced English proficiency. Proven experience handling problems with agents, brokers, clients. Soft skills: effective broker engagement, commitment, teamwork, proactive management, effective time management/prioritization, calendar organization, negotiation skills.
