Role Overview Part of our Hotel Administration team on our Ocean vessels, the Hotel General Manager manages the entire Hotel Operation, coordinating and leading the Hotel Department Heads onboard. The role sets the standard among the team and ensures all crew deliver service in accordance with Viking’s STAR Service Standard. The Hotel General Manager reports to the Director of Hotel Operations. Responsibilities Plan and oversee the entire Hotel operation on board, including Entertainment, Shop, Concessionaire, Food and Beverage events and liaison between Deck and Engine departments. Plan and manage cruise layouts with Department Heads, ensuring accurate and efficient execution in line with Viking’s Star Service Standards. Oversee management and control of sales of shore excursions, future cruises and tour dispatches, verifying revenue reports against target. Ensure cost control and adhere to set budgets by overseeing ship’s onboard finances, including inventories, forecasts, purchase orders and accounts. Demonstrate visible leadership and interact with guests and crew in accordance with Viking’s STAR Service Standard. Work closely with Department Heads and purchasing to ensure sufficient product and stock availability onboard, meeting targets and guest count. Provide competent leadership to direct reports, supporting a multicultural team to maximize satisfaction, productivity and retention; conduct daily “Daily Reunions” with Team Leaders to give feedback and operational updates. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Hotel General Manager with a strong focus on cost and revenue, hands‑on operations. Previous shipboard experience is a must. Experience with financial analysis and budgeting. Impeccable English communication skills; additional languages are an advantage. Experience leading multicultural teams; resilient, committed, stress‑resistant, with a focus on employee relations and development. Strong administrative skills with proficiency in PC‑based databases, spreadsheets and word processing. Guest and crew‑focused, service‑oriented, positive personality, professional appearance, impeccable hygiene, knowledge of Public Health Policies, team‑builder with exceptional work ethic, motivational and coaching abilities.
