Application Development What We’ll Do Start you on a high-impact team focused on improving SQL performance, ETL processes, and database scalability Transition you into a more Java-focused team once the platform and data workflows are stabilized Modernize existing ETL pipelines and improve overall data quality and execution speed Support migration and scaling efforts involving PostgreSQL and Redshift Give you opportunities to work across backend services, APIs, and modern front-end technologies Improve and modernize SDLC processes, deployment workflows, and engineering practices Provide exposure to distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and scalable application architecture What You’ll Bring Strong Java experience, ideally with Spring Boot and microservices architectures Good to strong SQL skills, including query optimization and database performance tuning Hands‑on ETL experience and comfort working with large‑scale data workflows Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB Production experience deploying applications in AWS environments Understanding of API development, scalability, and performance optimization Experience with React, TypeScript, and REST or GraphQL APIs Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, or other containerization/orchestration tools Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI Knowledge of automated testing strategies including unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing Understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure coding best practices Ability to help modernize engineering workflows and development practices Improving welcomes people from all backgrounds and walks of life, and this is reflected in our largely diverse community of Improvers.
