Job Description External Manufacturing Senior Manager for Ethicon Endo in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Purpose The External Manufacturing Site Leader functions as the general manager for MD External Operations manufacturing site(s). The External Operations Senior Manager leads all aspects of the relationship with assigned external manufacturers to deliver reliable product supply and total cost efficiency while meeting or exceeding all customer service, compliance, and product requirements. You Will Be Responsible For Oversee the manufacturing operations of contract suppliers and/or strategic collaboration sites to ensure product availability. Run costs, feasibility requests, and vendor quotes. Identify new suppliers and evaluate their capabilities. Lead a group of professionals as required. Critical Success Factors or Scope or Responsibilities Establish and implement policies, standards, guidelines, technology, and procedures for procuring materials and services. Develop a strong understanding of the process and all technical details for the product currently manufactured at the contract manufacturing facility. Oversee current technology transfer and startup activity at the third‑party facility, ensuring commercial operations. Partner with vendors and contractors to ensure quality, reliable sources of supply and information. Define and build links with other partners to leverage value creation opportunities. Run prospective improvements, corrective actions, validations, and manufacturing scale‑ups at the site. Resolve all disputed purchases of goods and services, protecting the company while maintaining fairness to suppliers. Develop monthly metrics and data to support the business. Ensure documentation, configuration, production, are in compliance with business and regulatory policies. Partner with vendors/contractors to deliver yearly cost improvement commitments, developing cost improvement opportunities and ensuring execution of identified projects. Maintain awareness of current market trends and conditions that affect suppliers, cost of goods, pricing, and operational or strategic implications for the company. Communicate business‑related issues or opportunities to management level. Follow all company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices. For those supervising staff, ensure subordinates follow guidelines and resources are available and maintained. Ensure personal and company compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. Qualifications / Requirements Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of related experience. MBA or equivalent experience and APICS certification desirable. Experience And Skills Medical device experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in supply chain, including External Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, Project Management, Planning, Distribution, or Finance. Prior experience leading suppliers, negotiating contracts, and working on supplier agreements. Experience in GMP manufacturing operations. Strong analytical/technical proficiency, project management skills, and cross‑functional project leadership. Proven self‑starter with strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools, training and/or certification preferred. Experience with commercialization of new products highly preferred. Internet and MS Office Suite proficiency required. Prior knowledge of planning systems such as ERP, MRP, and SAP is a plus.
