Your Team Responsibilities Model Services, a global team of software engineers, is searching for a highly motivated, hardworking, and eager to succeed individual. This position is for a Senior Associate to be based at the MSCI office in Monterrey, NL, Mexico. Model Services team is responsible for the development and support of the Model Engine Analytics, a Python‑based platform that enables fast research‑to‑market and high‑quality Factor Analytics content delivery. The Model Engine platform produces MSCI’s Factor Models among many other valuable factor analytics products. The Software Engineer will work with the Model Services and Production Services teams to design, implement, support and document innovative solutions that contribute to the Factor Analytics content platform. The Engineer needs to be strong in quantitative skills, as well as strong Python development skills, be self‑organized and feel comfortable adjusting seamlessly to multiple demands and shifting priorities in an agile, fast‑paced, demanding general environment. Your Key Responsibilities Model Engine Platform is a complex set of components that powers MSCI Research and Development of Factor Analytics content. It contains a rich Python analytics library accompanied by a modern ecosystem of tools distributed over a hybrid environment. The Model Services team’s key responsibility is to develop and operate the Model Engine Analytics ensuring fast and high‑quality product deliveries for our clients. Every development should consider security, performance, scalability, efficiency and user experience. Model Services Engineers are expected to drive innovation into the Model Engine Tools mainly through Machine Learning and Advanced Data Science techniques. The Model Engine tools and processes must be well documented, fully transparent, and accompanied by a set of metrics that support the effectiveness and accuracy of the solutions. Finally, the engineer will assume responsibilities along the full research cycle from envisioning to implementation, evaluation, documentation and support. Develop and support the Model Engine Tools for Factor Analytics content. Investigate, develop, and implement enhancements that address limitations. Ensure fully secure, scalable and performant solutions. Maintain a comprehensive set of metrics that measure coverage and effectiveness of our solutions. Contribute to the broader analytics strategy across MSCI. Your skills and experience that will help you excel Qualifications Master or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering field. Strong scientific academic background in mathematics, physics and statistics. Specific Knowledge & Skills Excellent analytical and quantitative skills a must (algorithms, data structures, and statistics). Strong Python programming skills including core libraries: numpy, pandas, scipy, plotly, etc. Python ecosystem skills: anaconda, pip, jupyter, pycharm, etc. Experience with Python data science and machine learning tools: sklearn, tensorflow, etc. Experience with web services. Strong skills in test‑driven/quality oriented SDLC. Experience with Git and/or other version control tools. Experience on Linux and shell scripting. Attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture and achieve the proper balance between 100% accuracy and timeliness. Desired Experience Machine Learning and Data Science online courses or certifications. Professional experience in Python software development, within quantitative and/or financial industry preferred.
