Job Description The Engineer will support the development of cutting‑edge new products to meet ever‑increasing demands of the transportation industry. This position requires a basic understanding of turbochargers and vehicle systems combined with creativity and drive to develop new products based on customer needs. Responsibility spans from supporting concept development of complex projects, support through test/validation and launch. The Design Engineer leads the application design integrating all aspects from rotor systems and mechanics. Responsibilities Work with cross‑functional teams including Development Engineering, Program Management, Product Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Base to ensure robust designs. Use internal standards & industry experience to design complex systems that meet customer specific requirements & packaging space. Have strong focus on built-in quality. Design complex parts and assemblies, applying Design for Manufacturing, cost & reliability fundamentals. Lead design activity for customer programs and coordinate with other supporting designers. Support design reviews and internal/external customer presentations. Own product life cycle management process, from CAD data creation to release in PLM. Work in a fast‑paced environment with competing requirements and challenging deadlines. Mentor other engineers and designers to help prepare them for greater project responsibilities. Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related. 5+ years of work experience designing mechanical and aerodynamic devices/components/systems. Strong CAD skills including solids, surfaces, complex geometries and 2D creation. 5+ years’ experience with 3D design & drafting complex parts & systems. Proficiency with ASME GDT. Knowledge of 2D/3D tolerance stack‑up of complex assemblies required. Experience with Enovia PLM / SmarTeam / Team Center PDM Systems or equivalent. Experience in design for metal castings, machined parts, sheet metal forming, & part assembly processes. Desirable Skills A comprehensive understanding of internal combustion engines and turbochargers. Knowledge and Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), kinematics, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), and/or mold flow (e.g., Magmasoft). Experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA & problem‑solving techniques.
