Overview The Data/Fire/Security Engineer will play a pivotal role within our integrated electrical design team, directly interfacing with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary design leads to deliver robust low‑voltage system designs that underpin life safety, communications, and security infrastructures across healthcare, commercial, education, automotive, industrial, food processing, and consumer products sectors. Your expertise will be crucial as you develop detailed system designs that precisely represent fire alarm, network architectures, intrusion detection, access control, and video surveillance layouts. You will create and coordinate riser diagrams, sequence of operations matrices, and wiring schematics, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70, and UL standards. Throughout the project lifecycle, from design through construction administration, you will collaborate closely with other discipline leads to integrate system performance within the overall facility infrastructure. Your responsibilities extend beyond design accuracy. You will participate in project coordination meetings, system review meetings with the owner and construction teams, and assist in interacting with system suppliers. Responsibilities also include project submittal reviews, RFI resolution, and compliance checks, maintaining transparent communication with clients to ensure design intent and operational objectives are achieved with cost‑effectiveness and schedule adherence. Responsibilities Lead detailed design and BIM modeling of low‑voltage life‑safety, data/communications, and security systems—including fire alarm, intrusion detection, access control, and video surveillance—in Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring coordination with mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines. Develop and deliver project‑specific riser diagrams, sequence of operations matrices, and wiring diagrams compliant with NFPA 72 and NEC Article 760 provisions. Interface directly with clients in sectors such as healthcare, commercial office, education, automotive manufacturing, food processing, and consumer product facilities to translate operational needs into compliant, constructible system designs. Collaborate with project managers and discipline leads to scope design efforts, establish milestones, and manage documentation for design reviews, value engineering, and permitting processes. Manage submittal reviews and technical correspondence related to fire, data, and security equipment, coordinating vendor product data and technical clarifications to ensure design intent and regulatory compliance. Maintain rigorous QA/QC on all drawings and BIM models, incorporating feedback from cross‑disciplinary coordination meetings and client input to mitigate rework and reduce project risk. Respond promptly to RFIs and field requests, leveraging knowledge of life safety codes and low‑voltage system design to resolve issues efficiently and maintain schedule integrity. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters, fostering skills development in Revit and code application related to low‑voltage electrical systems. Utilize M365 collaboration platforms supported by Microsoft Copilot to enhance productivity, documentation control, and communication across geographically distributed teams. Assist in pre‑design phases by assessing customer requirements through detailed needs analysis and translating them into actionable system design parameters and project scopes. Participate in cross‑discipline model reviews and clash detection sessions to proactively identify and resolve potential spatial and functional conflicts involving fire and security infrastructure. Monitor compliance with company safety protocols during field visits and coordinated construction activities to uphold safety excellence. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, or related field). Título and Cédula Profesional required. 8–10 years of documented design experience focused on life safety, network, and security systems including fire alarm, intrusion detection, access control, or video surveillance. Proficient in producing Revit BIM models and AutoCAD drawings for low‑voltage electrical systems, with demonstrated ability to produce and interpret complex wiring diagrams, riser schematics, and sequence of operations documentation. Working knowledge and practical application of NFPA 72, NEC Article 760, BICSI, and relevant UL listings governing fire alarm, data/communications, and security system designs. Familiarity with field support activities including installation observation, equipment inspection, and system startup procedures. Experience leading design and project engineering for low‑voltage and special systems solutions (fire alarm and detection, telecom design, access control, CCTV, BMS, lightning controls, etc.). Advanced English level (conversational). Desirable Skills Sector expertise in healthcare, commercial, education, automotive, industrial, food processing, or consumer products environments with exposure to complex, large‑scale EPC projects. Advanced skills in Revit BIM coordination and model clash detection workflows, with experience driving integrated multi‑discipline coordination sessions. Demonstrated capability to lead small teams or mentor junior staff in technical and procedural standards. What We Bring Monthly based gross salary.
