The Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the company's direct and indirect tax compliance, tax reporting, and tax planning activities in Mexico. This role ensures timely and accurate filing of tax returns, compliance with Mexican tax regulations, and support for audits and tax-related projects. The Tax Analyst works closely with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, and external advisors to minimize tax risk while maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance Prepare and review monthly, annual, and ad hoc tax filings, including: VAT (IVA) Income Tax (ISR) Withholding Taxes Local taxes and statutory obligations Support timely submission of tax returns and regulatory reports to the Mexican tax authority (SAT). Monitor tax calendars and ensure compliance with all filing deadlines. Assist with electronic accounting requirements and tax-related documentation requests. Tax Reporting & Accounting Prepare tax provisions, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly and annual financial reporting. Reconcile tax accounts and investigate discrepancies. Assist with deferred tax calculations and supporting documentation. Support statutory audits and external tax audits. Tax Research & Advisory Monitor changes in Mexican tax legislation and assess potential impacts on the business. Research tax issues and provide recommendations to management. Assist with transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction reviews. Support tax planning initiatives and process improvements. Audit & Regulatory Support Coordinate responses to inquiries from SAT and other governmental agencies. Maintain organized tax records and supporting documentation. Assist in managing tax audits, examinations, and information requests. Support implementation of internal controls related to tax compliance. Process Improvement & Technology Identify opportunities to improve tax processes through automation, standardization, and technology solutions. Utilize data analytics, ERP systems, and AI-enabled tools to improve reporting accuracy, compliance monitoring, and operational efficiency. Participate in finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field. Professional certification (CPA, Contador Público, or Master's in Taxation) is a plus. Experience 2–5 years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or tax consulting. Experience with Mexican tax regulations and compliance requirements. Experience working with multinational companies is preferred. Exposure to transfer pricing, VAT recovery, and cross-border transactions is a plus. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws, SAT requirements, and tax reporting obligations. Understanding of IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP tax accounting concepts. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Familiarity with tax compliance software and electronic invoicing (CFDI) processes. Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
