Summary The Engineering Manager leads the Engineering and Maintenance functions within a sheet metal manufacturing environment. This role oversees process development, equipment reliability, tooling, and continuous improvement across laser cutting, turret punching, bending, welding, finishing, The position ensures manufacturing processes support quality, cost, and delivery objectives while partnering with production and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Lead and develop Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance teams Provide technical leadership and mentoring in sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing best practices Align engineering activities with safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals Develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, productivity, and cost performance Create and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), process routings, and operation sequences Establish labor standards through time studies, line balancing, and motion analysis Develop capacity models for key equipment, including lasers, turrets, press brakes, and paint lines Implement standardized work across shifts and production cells to ensure consistency and repeatability Drive setup reduction initiatives to improve equipment utilization and flexibility Design manufacturing cells and facility layouts to optimize flow and reduce waste Manage engineering change control, drawing revisions, and process version control Define, monitor, and audit process capability, cycle times, PFMEAs, control plans, and process controls Partner with Production to sustain standard work and continuous improvement initiatives Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to quality, efficiency, and bottlenecks using root cause analysis Provide shop-floor support and ensure implementation of engineering changes Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) Support the selection, implementation, and automation of fabrication equipment Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field. 5+ years in sheet metal fabrication (laser, turret, bending, welding, painting) 5+ years in engineering leadership Experience in high-mix / low-volume environments strongly preferred Sheet metal fabrication processes, equipment and materials experience CAD/CAM systems (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) CNC programming and nesting GD&T #J-18808-Ljbffr
