Responsibilities Lead a distributed engineering team of 3‑10 engineers in your time zone and coach them through career planning and technical growth. Deliver high‑quality software that builds and runs private bare‑metal infrastructure, spanning hardware detection, provisioning, management web interface, API, CLI, and storage in a highly distributed stack written in Python and Go. Advocate modern software development practices, participate in code and architectural reviews, and set the technical direction for the MAAS platform. Collaborate across engineering teams responsible for cloud‑init, LXD, and Canonical’s public cloud offerings to ensure integration and alignment. Represent the MAAS team at open‑source community events and partner engagements, and travel to internal and external global events up to 4‑6 weeks per year. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent and a strong academic record. Proven experience delivering software using Python, Go, or similar languages. Experience with Linux system administration (Debian or Ubuntu) and deep familiarity with Linux on physical servers, storage, networking, and data center capabilities. Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems and the ability to mentor, develop, and support teams. Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills and agile software development experience. Result‑oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments and the ability to travel internationally for company events. Nice‑to‑have Skills Experience with Typescript and modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, Svelte, or Vue. Data Center infrastructure management and design experience.
