Summary The Safety Coordinator will support the efforts of the Safety Department to ensure compliance with regulatory and company safety standards. This position will promote a secure environment for all Ashley employees and Ashley property, meet with employees to address safety‑related issues and conduct safety investigations, maintain safety & training programs and records, develop and facilitate training programs, conduct safety audits, and communicate regularly with the Worker’s Compensation Department to review and investigate work‑related injury claims. Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Policy Management Update and maintain company safety policies and procedures in accordance with current OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to ensure ongoing compliance Advise management on regulatory requirements, interpretations, and potential impacts Support abatement efforts for identified regulatory violations and non‑compliance issues Review workplace video footage and photographic evidence for potential safety violations Conduct monthly safety training sessions for supervisors and leadership teams Facilitate new employee safety orientation sessions Day‑to‑Day Safety Operations Investigate workplace accidents, near‑misses, and safety incidents in a timely manner Review and document employee injuries, ensuring proper reporting and follow‑up Assign and track corrective action assignments to appropriate personnel Develop and deliver training programs on new safety policies, procedures, and best practices Educate staff on health, safety, and security laws, regulations, and company procedures Maintain safety documentation, records, and compliance files Employee Relations & Support Meet with employees to address safety concerns, questions, and suggestions Resolve employee safety complaints and ensure timely follow‑up on abatement actions Provide immediate assistance to injured employees, including first aid and injury assessment Transport injured employees to medical facilities when necessary Perform basic first aid, including bandaging and initial injury treatment Foster a positive safety culture through engagement and communication Workers' Compensation Collaboration Coordinate with Workers' Compensation department on injury cases Review and investigate root causes of workplace injuries Participate in regular meetings to analyze injury trends and prevention strategies Maintain accurate injury documentation and case management records Core Values Demonstration Embody and promote company Core and Growth Values in all interactions and decisions Lead by example in safety practices and professional conduct Secondary Responsibilities Maintain consistent and reliable attendance Actively participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuing education Provide training and mentorship to other employees on safety topics Serve as backup support for other safety or operations functions as needed Complete special projects, assignments, and administrative tasks as requested by management Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred Certifications OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days) First Aid and CPR/AED certification required Additional safety certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar) preferred Experience Minimum 2‑3 years of experience in safety coordination, occupational health, or related field Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environments preferred Proven track record of conducting accident investigations and implementing corrective actions Experience with Workers' Compensation processes and injury case management Work Environment This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel‑toed boots. The fast‑paced environment involves time‑sensitive and safety‑sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
