Workshop Manager - Queens, NY Snapshot of Responsibilities As a Workshop Manager you will be accountable for leading the technicians on the workshop floor, overseeing the management and performance of the JFK maintenance operation, delivering outstanding service, ensuring compliance with quality standards, promoting safe working practices, improving day‑to‑day operations, completing paperwork to a high standard, and maintaining a high level of quality for customers. Coaching and leading the team Taking end-responsibility for quality, efficiency, safety, and resources within the unit. Coaching and motivating team members and fostering teamwork. Taking responsibility for the team. Management of the workshop Implement TCR processes and procedures using SAP. Manage resource and labor allocation in coordination with management. Ensure correct stock management by ordering needed resources such as spare parts and office supplies. Provide insights to management regarding feasibility of planning and advise on solutions and bottlenecks. Identify and visualise planned maintenance and outstanding problems using available systems. Track the progress of work packages based on available resources, monitoring standard times and bottlenecks within the given mandate. Assist team members in processing production figures and quality data for operations. Create, check, evaluate, and sign inspection lists. Implement contingency procedures. Subject‑specific support to the team members Instruct in maintenance and malfunctions for safe maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Transfer knowledge for professional development of team members. Collaborating with key stakeholders Coordinate with departments such as customers, suppliers, and TCR departments. Provide relevant customer information to team members influencing operations. Advise customers regarding availability of vehicles and equipment. Continuous improvement Contribute to professional knowledge to set up quality measurements in consultation with management. Propose improvements such as adjusting procedures and establishing new work agreements. Investigate and produce technical improvements to equipment, reducing cost per unit and increasing availability. Perform tasks specific for technicians, including responsibilities and authorities. Take end-responsibility for workshop administration, including work orders, invoicing, and time control. Demonstrate active safety leadership, driving safety culture and implementing initiatives to improve TCR’s safety performance and OHSA management system. Qualifications (Expert) technical background in GSE maintenance and repair: mechanics, hydraulics, electricity, air pressure, air‑con/refrigeration units, and electrical systems (preferred). Ability to make complex decisions under pressure. Stress resistant. Assist in implementation of formal quality improvement. Demonstrate commitment to an OHSA‑friendly environment by attending additional safety education classes. Act as a role model. Be a real team player. Strong communication skills. Drive for excellence. Good Microsoft Office 365 skills. Leadership skills: facilitating teamwork, communicating the vision, effective delegation, managing change and conflict. Fluent in English – both oral and written.
