Job Description The Advanced Supplier Quality (ASQ) engineer ensures supplier quality and performance for all commodities as needed. This role requires strong technical expertise, proactive self-management, and effective leadership skills to influence and guide suppliers and cross-functional teams. The ASQ engineer must align all activities with corporate objectives for quality, cost, and delivery, while fostering collaboration and accountability. Responsibilities and duties Actively participate in narrowing down potential new suppliers during the direct material sourcing process. Conduct on-site audits of supplier Quality Management Systems to verify compliance with ISO-9001 standards and corporate requirements. Prepare comprehensive audit reports, coordinate corrective actions, and validate implementation to ensure issues are resolved. Lead supplier APQP processes for critical new part numbers and projects, ensuring adherence to corporate timelines and quality standards. Support engineering and commodity managers in defining critical parts requiring PPAP (all PPAP levels). Coordinate corrective actions for design and manufacturing issues during prototype, sample, and pilot builds. Manage PPAP activities through mass production approval for critical parts. Implement and monitor “Safe Launch Plans” with suppliers, ensuring KPI targets are met and aligned with corporate objectives. Drive continuous improvement activities to meet Supplier KPIs (PPM, OTD, Responsiveness) and elevate when necessary. Facilitate monthly KPI reviews and participate in Quarterly Business Reviews with critical suppliers. Maintain strong collaboration with internal teams and suppliers to ensure engineering changes (ECO) and PPAP updates are executed effectively. Demonstrate strong self-management by prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and proactively addressing risks without constant supervision. Exhibit management skills by influencing supplier teams, leading cross-functional meetings, and ensuring accountability for deliverables. Ensure all supplier quality activities support and reinforce corporate goals for operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and cost competitiveness. Education, Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience using Six Sigma and other quality tools. Minimum 5 years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing engineering. Expertise in PCB assembly processes and mechanical components (die casting, plastics) preferred. Strong communication skills in English and Spanish. Knowledge of ISO-9001 / IATF-16949 principles and APQP leadership experience. Ability to read technical drawings and specifications. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP knowledge (Oracle, Fourth‑Shift) is a plus. Ability to travel 30–50%. Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain accountability for results. Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and drive performance across supplier and internal teams.
