We're Hiring: Project Cost Engineer – Propulsion (Automotive) Join a high-impact Propulsion Cost Engineering team supporting a leading general OEM. If you bring deep expertise in manufacturing processes + cost estimation, this role puts you at the center of powertrain cost strategy. Technical Scope Transmissions (assembly, casting, machining, forging, grinding, mechanics) Drivelines (axles, transfer case, assembly, machining, forging) Internal Combustion Engines (engine block, cylinder head, oil pan, casting) Key Responsibilities (Costing & Estimation) Develop should-cost models for propulsion components and assemblies Perform bottom-up cost breakdowns (BOM, materials, labor, overhead, tooling, capex) Analyze manufacturing processes (casting, machining, forging, assembly) to estimate cost drivers Conduct RFQ analysis & supplier quotation validation Benchmark costs using historical data, market intelligence, and design assumptions Identify cost reduction opportunities (VA/VE) and support design-to-cost initiatives Evaluate make vs. buy scenarios and sourcing strategies Support tooling cost estimation and amortization models Track cost evolution across program phases (RFQ ? sourcing ? industrialization ? production) Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to align cost targets Perform gap analysis vs. target cost and propose recovery actions Build and maintain cost databases and parametric models What We're Looking For Minimum 3 years of experience in cost engineering or technical engineering Background in OEM or Tier 1 automotive (highly preferred) Strong knowledge of design, manufacturing processes, and cost analysis Experience with powertrain components is a big plus Advanced skills in Excel / cost modeling tools Intermediate English (professional communication required) Location: Santa Fe (Mexico City area) Work model: Hybrid Time zone: Mexico #J-18808-Ljbffr
