Job Description The Brakes D&R Engineer is responsible for delivery of actuation brake systems and components. Responsibilities include lead design, development, validation, release, and implementation of brake hardware parts under their responsibility (Brake tubes, pedal box, jounce hoses & wheel speed sensors). The engineer interfaces with Brake Controls Hardware & Software teams and Fix Brakes team to deliver overall brake system performance for assigned vehicle programs. The Quality Engineer monitors quality of all variable brake components, leads supplier changes (SREAs), leads FSA with cross‑functional teams, and presents data for upper‑management reviews. The engineer signs off compliance to Engineering Requirements, Engineering Specifications (ES) and Design Rules (DR), as well as Manufacturing, Assembly and Service requirements, and is responsible for parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant. Responsibilities Deliver actuation brake systems and components. Design and package components, ensuring overall system performance, cost, weight, timing, and quality. Produce engineering documents. Lead components and system design and development, validate and sign off all key brake performance and attribute requirements. Lead vehicle tests and bench tests for specific functions. Collaborate with brake development engineers to refine functional characteristics of brake components, system, features, and vehicle. Manage supplier delivery and performance. Serve as a leader and representative of brake engineering to interfacing organizations. On‑site duty: 4 days at Ford GTBC México (Naucalpan, México). Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline. High English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking). 5+ years of experience in the role or related field. Functional engineering experience desirable, preferably chassis or automotive related (Ford, OEM, supplier). Strong leadership skills – self‑starter, self‑motivated with a drive for results. Project management skills – capable of managing projects by balancing big‑picture objectives with detailed administration. Excellent math, science, technology and IT skills; able to work in unfamiliar and unstructured situations and succeed. Ability to analyze complex problems and assess possible solutions. Ability to explain design ideas clearly and make strong decisions. Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, resolve issues and conduct management reviews. Excellent teamwork and people skills. Comprehensive understanding of brake subsystem design specifications. Computer‑literate: proficiency in MS Office/Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with 3D CAD software tools (Catia / Teamcenter, Vismock up). Desirable: basic CAE structural knowledge. Demonstrated proficiency with WERS, GSAR, FEDE, FEDEBOM. Demonstrated proficiency in preferred engineering disciplines: DVP&R, DFMEA, 8D, NVH, Process Controls, GD&T, Reliability and System Engineering fundamentals. Experience with DMAIC/DFSS/Robustness tools. Ability to travel and support Ford Motor Company final‑assembly plants and supplier sites when required during project delivery; many sites are located in the United States where international travel and B1/B2 or TN Visa may be required.
