The Global Commodity Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the sourcing and procurement activities of specific commodities on a global scale. This role involves developing and executing commodity sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the availability of high-quality materials and services at competitive prices. The Global Commodity Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and regional commodity managers to drive cost savings, mitigate risks, and enhance supplier performance globally. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Commodity Sourcing Strategy: Develop and implement a global sourcing strategy for specific commodities, aligned with overall business objectives, market trends, and supply chain requirements. Identify opportunities for consolidation, cost savings, and process improvements across regions. Supplier Management: Manage relationships with global suppliers for specific commodities. Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on their capabilities, quality standards, financial stability, and compliance with relevant regulations. Collaborate with regional commodity managers to optimize global supplier portfolios. Contract Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations with suppliers to ensure favorable terms, conditions, and pricing globally. Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to develop contractual agreements that protect the organization's interests, foster strong supplier relationships, and optimize value delivery. Cost Optimization: Analyze spend data, market trends, and supply chain dynamics to identify cost-saving opportunities within the commodity category. Drive initiatives to negotiate competitive pricing, optimize supplier terms, and streamline procurement processes globally. Supplier Performance Management: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure supplier performance within the commodity category globally. Conduct regular performance reviews, address issues, and drive improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality materials and services from global suppliers. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate sourcing and supply chain risks within the commodity category globally. Develop contingency plans, alternative sourcing strategies, and business continuity plans to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of supply. Supply Chain Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, logistics, operations, and finance, to align sourcing activities within the commodity category with overall supply chain objectives. Provide insights and recommendations to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize global operations. Market Intelligence: Stay updated with market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies related to the specific commodities globally. Conduct market research, supplier assessments, and benchmarking to identify new suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and leverage market opportunities. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements, provide sourcing expertise, and ensure alignment with business needs. Foster effective communication and strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of commodity sourcing strategies globally. Qualifications Education Essential: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or engineering Experience Desirable: 8-10 years of experience technical skill set in Mechanical engineering, electronic, chemistry Technical / Essential Proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on specific commodities on a global scale. Strong knowledge of global commodity sourcing principles, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and cost optimization strategies. Excellent analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to analyze data, develop sourcing strategies, and negotiate contracts globally. Solid understanding of global supply chain dynamics, market trends, and regulations within the commodity category. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously and meet deadlines globally. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with suppliers and stakeholders globally. Strong business acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to align sourcing activities with business objectives globally. Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving cost savings, supplier performance, and risk mitigation globally. Ability to adapt to a dynamic and changing global business environment and work well under pressure.
