ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a hands-on SharePoint Builder to join our project team delivering a fully custom SharePoint intranet for a client. This is a build-from-scratch engagement — you will work closely with the Architect and UX Designer to bring the agreed design and information architecture to life in SharePoint Online. This role is primarily configuration and platform administration, not software development. The ideal candidate knows SharePoint inside out, can move fast within the platform, and takes pride in getting the details right — permissions, navigation, search, page layouts, and content structure. WHAT YOU WILL DO Create and configure site collections, hub sites, and team/communication sites in SharePoint Online Apply the approved information architecture — content types, managed metadata, term stores, and column configurations Build out page templates and section layouts using modern SharePoint web parts Configure site navigation, mega menus, hub navigation, and quick launch menus Set up document libraries, lists, views, and metadata schemas per department requirements Implement permissions models including SharePoint groups, Azure AD groups, and inheritance settings Configure SharePoint search, promoted results, and content sources Use PnP PowerShell or the CLI for Microsoft 365 for bulk operations, site provisioning, and scripted deployments Collaborate with the UX Designer to implement page designs accurately and consistently Support UAT by preparing test environments and resolving configuration issues raised by client users Document the configuration for handover to the client's M365 admin WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 3+ years of hands-on experience building and configuring SharePoint Online sites Strong working knowledge of modern SharePoint (communication sites, hub sites, SPFx web parts) Experience with managed metadata, content types, and the SharePoint term store Comfortable with PnP PowerShell or CLI for Microsoft 365 for scripted site management Solid understanding of SharePoint permissions, inheritance, and Azure AD group integration Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 admin center, Teams integration, and OneDrive for Business Attention to detail — you notice when a navigation item is in the wrong place or a column is misconfigured Able to work directly with a UX designer's wireframes and apply them accurately in the platform NICE TO HAVE Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx) custom web part deployment Power Automate flow configuration for document routing or approval workflows Microsoft 365 or SharePoint certifications (MS-900, MS-700, SharePoint Server hybrid experience) Experience on intranet build projects, particularly working department by department
