About the Role The Staff Engineer, Thermal Systems Engineering will play a key role in the design, analysis, and optimization of data center cooling systems, focusing on advanced applied water‑cooled chiller solutions. Responsibilities include supporting performance selections, conducting system‑level thermal analyses, and integrating applied chillers to achieve high efficiency and reliability. Key Responsibilities Assist in performance selection, evaluation, and specification of applied water‑cooled chiller systems for data centers. Collaborate with engineering, marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure thermal system compatibility and effective communication across project stakeholders. Contribute to technical reviews and support all project phases, including review of engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals related to applied chiller systems. Identify and resolve technical issues impacting thermal system performance, reliability, and sustainability; elevate complex challenges to senior engineers as needed. Work with vendors, consultants, and internal teams to support compliance with industry standards and client‑specific requirements for data center cooling solutions. Participate in initiatives that drive innovation and continuous improvement in data center thermal management technologies and practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 8+ years of HVAC engineering experience emphasizing performance modeling, design, and testing of chiller or commercial refrigeration systems. Or Master’s in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of HVAC engineering experience with the same emphasis. Or PhD in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 2+ years of HVAC engineering experience emphasizing performance modeling, design, and testing of chiller or commercial refrigeration systems. Preferred Qualifications Expertise in thermal analysis software such as EES or Dymola. Proven expertise in large‑scale projects. Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, AHRI) and regulations. Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail, with a record of delivering high‑quality results on schedule. Effective communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Team player with a collaborative mindset and passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
