Senior Process Engineer - Ciudad Juarez, Independencia Plant Job Function: Supply Chain Engineering Job Category: People Leader Location: Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico About the Role The Senior Process Engineer will lead engineering projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality and customer service standards. The role involves planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and coordinating technical activities from conception through completion. Responsibilities Lead engineering projects ensuring timely and budget‑conscious completion with no impact to quality or customer service. Develop project objectives and plans, executing detailed plans using standard project management tools (charter, Gantt chart, etc). Determine project schedule by studying specifications, product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; calculate time requirements, sequence project elements, complete technical studies, and prepare cost estimates. Control and maintain the project plan and schedule by reviewing designs, specifications, monitoring progress, and managing the project budget. Plan and schedule project changes, coordinate activities, recommend actions, and resolve problems. Oversee and coordinate technical aspects of the project through coordination meetings and other communication methods. Approve and plan expenditures, keeping an accurate record of all project elements. Prepare and present project status reports for various organizational levels, collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends with recommendations. Follow the Ethicon change control process for all applicable projects. Confirm product performance by designing and conducting tests and performing process validation on new, transferred, or modified processes. Prepare/review capital and expense forecasts for assigned projects and prepare capital authorization requests (CAR). Control project costs by approving and monitoring expenditures, and administering contractor contracts. Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with state and federal regulations. Ensure personal and company compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures. Ensure effective use of engineering and quality systems and adherence to quality system regulations (QSR). Manage the NCR and CAPA process by documenting, investigating, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions for product non‑conformances. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. Ensure all OSHA and J & J Machine Guarding requirements are met. Support and promote the safety and industrial hygiene objectives of the plant. Communicate business‑related issues or opportunities to the next management level. Other responsibilities may be assigned; not all listed responsibilities may be required. Qualifications & Requirements B.S. in Engineering or a related Science discipline. Approximate 4 to 6 years of experience in manufacturing/design engineering. Six Sigma Green or Black Certification and/or other project management methodology (preferred). Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and translate product drawings into process information. Hands‑on experience with manual and automated assembly equipment and/or processes. Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral, fluent in English) and ability to function/lead in a team‑based manufacturing environment. Ability to establish and manage relationships, present information, make decisions, and negotiate influencing stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, initiative, and results/target focus. Experience with Bill of Material (BOM) structures. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and lean principles with ability to promote continuous improvement. Understanding of design and production costs, including waste, downtime, scrap, and re‑work. Understanding of calibration concepts and measurement systems. Understanding of international customs procedures. Experience with the essentials of the Medical Device Directive (MDD), ISO 13485, FDA design controls, or similar regulatory environments in design control and process validation. Experience on medical device (Class II or Class III) projects. Experience utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools. Experience in project management. Understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with awareness of the impact of failure or cost of poor quality.
