The Studios Controllership Group is Warner Bros Discovery’s global accounting team, providing efficient and scalable global finance and accounting services to the Warner Bros Discovery Group of Companies. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Studios Controllership accounting team. The team is responsible for global by‑title accounting and reporting accuracy and completeness of content costs across all Warner Bros studios segments. The Senior Accountant will support the film studio production division of Warner Bros Motion Picture Group, including Warner Bros Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Warner Bros Pictures Animation. The team reviews all P&L activity, prepares journal entries for production cash, hedge gain/loss, accruals, tax incentive receivables, and other ad‑hoc entries as needed. This role ensures all deliverables are completed timely and accurately, and signs off on necessary close requirements. The candidate must be proactive, able to critically think, and work independently. Responsibilities Support day‑to‑day general accounting and reporting activities Prepare various reports to support internal and external reporting needs Review participation statements and prepare accrual true‑ups analysis Review residuals statements and prepare accrual true‑ups analysis Review capitalized film costs and prepare necessary journal entries Prepare audit and SOX documentation Monthly and Quarter‑end Deliverables Prepare various monthly journal entries and accruals, including capitalized film costs, amortization, hedge gain/loss, cap interest, impairments, etc. Prepare capitalized film costs schedules Prepare participations and residuals liability balance schedules Prepare P&L, footnotes, B/S flux, and other supplemental schedules as required Qualifications and Experience 3+ years previous work experience in an accounting or finance field Highly motivated, analytical, proactive, and self‑sufficient Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with people on all levels, in person, via email or other digital format, and over the telephone Must be able to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions Must be able to organize and schedule work effectively Must be able to multi‑task projects simultaneously and prioritize Must be able to adapt in a changing environment and quickly learn new concepts, solve problems, and implement solutions Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel Must be able to work reasonable overtime, if necessary Education and Certifications BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting required CPA or MBA equivalent strongly preferred Knowledge and Skills Must be fluent or near fluent in English Experience working with large amounts of data preferred Experience with SAP is a plus Working in shared service and/or outsourcing environment a plus Previous Big 4 accounting experience preferred Equal Opportunity Employment Warner Bros Discovery embraces the opportunity to build a workforce that reflects a wide array of perspectives, backgrounds and experiences.
