The Opportunity New Fortress Energy is seeking a Legal Counsel (4–5 years PQE) to join our Mexico Legal team. This role will support a broad range of legal matters including commercial transactions, energy and infrastructure projects, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, dispute management, and day-to-day legal operations. The position works closely with Senior Counsel, internal stakeholders, and external law firms. This is an opportunity to gain exposure to high-impact projects within a global energy company operating in dynamic and regulated markets. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Mexico. Key Responsibilities Commercial & Transactional Support Draft, review, negotiate, and support execution of commercial and operational agreements. Support due diligence activities for transactions and strategic projects. Identify legal risks and escalate complex matters appropriately. Assist with contract administration and document management processes. Corporate Governance & Entity Management Support formation, maintenance, and administration of legal entities. Prepare and maintain corporate governance documentation, including: Bylaws Powers of attorney Corporate resolutions Shareholder documentation Regulatory filings Maintain corporate structure charts and legal entity records. Coordinate with external corporate service providers. Regulatory, Compliance & Risk Support regulatory filings and permitting processes under Mexican law. Assist with compliance, ethics, and risk initiatives. Support litigation and dispute matters alongside Senior Counsel and external counsel. Monitor legal developments impacting business operations. Cross-functional Legal Support Partner with Operations, Finance, HR, HSSE, Procurement, and leadership teams. Coordinate with external counsel on specific legal matters. Conduct legal research and prepare practical summaries regarding applicable laws and regulations. Support business teams in identifying legal implications and risk mitigation strategies. General Legal Support Perform additional legal and administrative duties as assigned by Legal leadership or Country Management. Support ongoing process improvements and legal operations initiatives. Qualifications Required Law degree and active license to practice law in Mexico . 4–5 years of post-qualification legal experience (PQE). Experience supporting corporate, commercial, regulatory, or transactional matters. Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. Familiarity with corporate governance documentation and legal entity administration. Excellent legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously. Strong judgment and ability to recognize when escalation is necessary. Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal) .
