Purpose of Position Mainly involved in labor-management relations, proposes and monitors the company's labor relations policies, including collective bargaining agreements. Ensures compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines from local labor law and/or corporate. Responsible for administering grievance procedures. Manages union relationships in the plant and creates a healthy labor environment for both salaried and union employees. Oversees the plant labor relations team according to the HR Manager and/or HR Director. Assists in achieving or beating budgetary objectives in support of top quartile performance while maintaining appropriate levels of HR delivery service. Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals. Major responsibilities and tasks of the position Educates plant leadership on union contracts and local and state employment law to ensure compliance with contracts and applicable personnel management laws. Manages and mitigates employee grievances by ensuring supervisors and leadership create an open forum for discussion and resolution of work issues. Coaches and counsels plant management in developing and demonstrating leadership and management practices required to establish and maintain a positive work environment. Resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that protects the needs of the plant to operate effectively and efficiently. Owns specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and/or delivering HR programs (e.g., attendance tracking, discipline, overtime). Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with the Plant HR Manager to identify actions for improvement. Establishes and maintains a presence on the plant floor to keep a pulse on the organization. Implements appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure plant compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and federal employment laws. Monitors employee services at the plant location. Education Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial/labor/law relations preferred, or related field. Basic proficiency in verbal & written English language skills. Work Experience +3 years of HR labor relations experience as a supervisor. Traceable experience organizing and deploying HR labor relation actions. Traceable experience managing/coordinating labor relations teams. Demonstrated expertise managing HR metrics such as absenteeism, disciplinary action, turnover, etc. Experience working with employee services vendors (Cafeteria / Transportation, Medical department). Critical thinking and dealing with ambiguity. Emotional Management / Emotional Self‑Management. Labor relations framework expert. Navigating through organization.
