Description Would you like an opportunity to travel and work regionally? The role will be based in Mexico with 50% of the time travelling domestically or to other countries. The Engineering PM will be responsible for delivering aspects of an Amazon Fulfilment Center (FC), focusing on its automation technologies (conveyance, sortation, robotics) and storage solutions. The person will plan, design and deliver medium and large‑size state‑of‑the‑art material handling systems and technology innovations to launch new Fulfillment Centers, expand or convert existing sites, and improve operations generally. The role will own safety, budget, and schedule, provide accurate updates and risk forecasts, and focus on cost savings while ensuring quality and optimal performance. During execution the PM often serves as the main interface point for internal teams (Worldwide Design Engineering, RME, PMO, Central Planning, Construction, IT, Launch) and external stakeholders (vendors and consultants). An experienced project manager owns safety, ensures no unplanned disruption to live operations, and drives continuous improvement across projects. Key Job Responsibilities End‑to‑end ownership for medium/large‑scale engineering projects (planning, design, procurement, installation, commissioning and qualification, launch support) Dive deep on technical details and provide value engineering and innovative solutions to drive frugality and continuous improvements Lead technical design reviews and propose design solutions for material handling and storage solutions that meet both business needs and global design standards Create, submit and track relevant CAPEX requests (Capital Planning) to ensure all projects are delivered within budget and best overall value Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams Own the budget for the scope of the project and give accurate updates and risk forecast, gaining savings while ensuring quality and performance Assist in providing equipment specifications and technical support to Procurement, Change Management and other business partners for best value and competition Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Worldwide Engineering, Construction, Operations, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, Procurement and Change Management Participate/Lead subject matter expert or process improvement teams to create safer, leaner and more effective delivery processes Responsible for contractor management and teams up to approx. 100 people A Day in the Life You will work on the delivery of one of our Amazon Fulfillment Centers with a project lifecycle of about a year in a high‑performing team. In the early phases you will predominantly work from an Amazon office or from home; during execution you will spend about 50% of your time at the project site, with peaks extending to most weekdays during the final phases of installation, commissioning, qualification, and post‑launch ramp‑up. The location of the role is flexible within the country of your team. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree 3+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer experience in a manufacturing environment Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English Preferred Qualifications Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing Experience working with and managing third‑party vendors Experience with retrofits, launches, or automation deployments, or building launch readiness frameworks, standard work, playbooks, and scalable deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites Proficiency in French, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans, and Zulu is preferred Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
