Job Summary The Network Engineer is responsible for design, provision, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Expected to be a subject matter expert managing converged network technologies and contributing to network architecture to meet business requirements. Essential Functions Anticipates potential problems associated with network infrastructure or service level trends. Handles multiple tasks with changing priorities and communicates changes in scope and schedule. Creates network architectures and designs including standards, documentation, and configurations. Assists business analysts in resolving customer issues. Creates and maintains system documentation and infrastructure drawings. Reviews system logs to ensure optimal performance. Performs engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, Security Solutions, and Unified Communications. Provides technical support to customers and users. Reviews service-impacting anomalies. Researches, evaluates, and recommends hardware and software solutions. Acts as escalation point for network and UC-related customer issues. Plans implementation activities for network and UC hardware. Uses networking tools such as ping, trace, NetMon, Wireshark, Solarwinds, VoIP tools, etc. Knowledge of Cisco Nexus using NX-OS. Knowledge of WLAN Controllers, Cisco ISE, IPsec VPNs, Cisco routers and switches, and Cisco SD-WAN. Proficiency in routing/switching: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, DMVPN, MPLS, VLANs, STP, VTP, IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS. Understanding of virtualization technologies including ESX, VRFs, VPCs, VDCs. Knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, Netflow, network management. Experience supporting network security solutions. Strong knowledge of collaboration solutions and telephony modules. Experience with SBC and Emergency Responder. Knowledge in Contact Center, Recording tools, Dialers, Fax, and Wallboards. Education and Experience ITSM foundation training required. 5+ years network engineering experience in large Enterprise or MSP. CCNP Collaboration preferred; other CCNP certifications a plus. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
