Job Overview The Product Quality Engineer reports directly to the Product Quality Engineering Manager of the plant and functionally to the Product Quality Engineering Leader. The engineer is the plant’s quality reference for its technical scope (organic, functional, process). In mass‑production, he ensures the industrialization (from a quality perspective) of new parts, analyzes defects, and contributes to the convergence of quality results in new and in‑use parts by identifying ICA actions. He/she coordinates the quality of suppliers on his/her panel. Responsibilities Strategic Responsibilities Lead the external customer satisfaction on all external KPIs such as 3MIS, 1MIS, PDI, Consumer Report, JDP, social media. Meet Quality/Product/Process requirements. Operational Responsibilities Lead customer‑claim investigations to identify root cause and corrective actions to satisfy customer expectations. Integrate engineering product‑related changes into the assembly plant. Resolve complex issues using advanced problem‑solving techniques. Resource Management People development: provide coaching on product and problem solving with the purpose of developing others. Other Functions Advancing Customer Quality Analyze parts returned from field incidents (warranty claims, country incident reports). Propose and implement ICA (Interim Containment Action) with the plant and supplier within the required timeframe. Write the A3 problem‑solving and define an action plan to eradicate root causes. Ensure effectiveness of implemented actions (BP follow‑up) and inform all concerned counterparts. Provide technical assistance and participate in crisis meetings. Support convergence of quality KPI (3MIS). Support/lead yard holds providing clear definitions of dirty/clean points, action plans, repair procedures, and containment actions. Product Quality Engineering aspects (not limited to): Respond urgently to manufacturing quality issues and collaborate with the Chief Inspector and staff to contain issues. Manage product and process information from multiple databases to compile KPI and metric reports (Safety, Warranty, Pulls/Repairs, Cost). Support monthly warranty reporting and deep dive into 3, 12, and 24‑month MIS warranty issues. Support customer alerts from assembly plants and collaborate with PT Field Engineering for pull and repairs. Support warranty review and resolution through QEC reviews, MyCustomerVoice reviews, and Warranty Table reviews. Decision authority for deviation requests (TSA’s, PCN’s, and PDA’s). Coordinate production evaluation runs (PERs) and change notice (CN) implementation for product/process improvements. Perform CN/PER risk assessments. Provide plant quality approval for all CN’s. Lead issue tracking (including plant‑assigned GIMs) for external customer issues. Facilitate launch of new programs using Quality OTP (Operational Transformation Process). Lead and organize all special builds with production and support teams. Lead and support quality root‑cause and continuous improvement initiatives through Kaizen methodology. Perform, administer or direct rework/repair methods and processes in compliance with engineering standards. Lead the EPM pillar for early product management. Actively support PFMEA for new programs and maintain documentation for existing products. Lead launch activities for machining qualifications and launch control plan reviews. Own and maintain control plans. Provide risk assessment direction for dyno or functional audit findings. Authorize lot release as appropriate. Hold authority to cease and commence product‑related activities in relation to quality issues. Develop strategy for component reuse (blue‑dot process) with acceptance from product engineering. Support/manage pulls/repairs from Vehicle Assembly Plants with action plans. Ensure the landing of Serial Life Windows & evolutions/events products including cost savings. Prepare for industrialization from the quality side. Give final PPAP status (APQP audit, part inspection, line‑validation try‑outs, app updates). Issue derogations for parts not fully PPAP approved but saleable. Monitor the assembly of PRS to Batch Method. Problem‑solve: identify root cause, propose containment and definitive solutions, follow up on BP implementation, and inform all counterparts. Support modernization (including software) standards; perform quality assessment during pre‑production phases. Participate, if required, in Panorama Evolution Product Process guided by the Master Chief Engineer. Support the plant’s safety of production. Analyze DRR and DVx results to confirm defect attribution (Diamond 1‑3 factory NC, Diamond 4 supplier NC). Problem‑solve: propose immediate protective measures and definitive solutions together with supplier and manufacturing teams; follow up on BP implementation. Propose design evolutions to the ENG team for design issues (redesign Diamond 5‑6‑7). Participate in local and cross‑cutting crisis meetings. Ensure supplier ticket process (created QO/Reactivity) processes anomalies within required timeframe and validates action plans. Hand over quality responsibilities from launch project and serial life. Guarantee robustness of the plant monitoring plan. Relay and update the monitoring plan in the plant.
