Reports To Instrument Supervisor Background The Technician is responsible for executing maintenance and preservation tasks efficiently and safely to ensure the reliability and longevity of equipment. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and preservation activities, including cleaning, housekeeping, blasting, spraying/painting, isolation and reinstatement, greasing, and preserving topside items such as flanges, bolts, and valves. The technician must keep the supervisor informed of all activities, especially safety-related items, and demonstrate exemplary safety awareness and technical competence at all times. Authority The Instrument Technician is authorized to maintain instrument assets and systems safely. Immediate Subordinates Subcontractors, Visitors, Vendor Representatives Accountable For: Responsibilities & Standards Dismantle and reassemble instrumentation equipment. Identify potential hazards prior to dismantling. Use correct procedures and methods for dismantling. Carry out correct isolation and disconnection procedures. Identify, check, and prepare components. Apply appropriate tests to ensure correct reassembly. Monitor and maintain the condition of instrumentation equipment. Adjust instruments to meet operating specifications with minimal disruption. Record work in history or log books. Diagnose faults in equipment promptly. Select and apply appropriate diagnostic tests methodically. Perform visual, close, and detailed inspections on equipment. Use inspection results to determine appropriate actions. Record accurate descriptions in the appropriate document history. Monitor and maintain pollution control measures. Identify and halt unplanned discharges, reporting per policy. Use the correct PPE for handling discharges. Dispose of waste and materials according to procedure. Enforce environmental protection and pollution control with colleagues, subordinates, and subcontractors. Carry out emergency response duties (see Station Bill) and demonstrate competence in drills. Computerised Maintenance Management System proficiency. Planning work and scheduling. Dismantling, repair, and reassembly of equipment. Hazardous area classification knowledge. Safety management practices. Pre-hire Qualifications And Experience Proven experience and/or qualification to N/SVQ/HNC/HND in Instrument Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, with offshore experience preferred. Experience and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and utilities. Good experience of Permit to Work, instrument/mechanical isolation standards, and risk assessment. Completion of a COMP ex E’X’ course preferred. Medically fit according to The Company GEMS Instruction Health Requirements to Work Offshore.
