Responsibilities Lead and supervise daily operations of the metrology laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely calibration, measurement, and inspection activities. Manage and maintain calibration systems in compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025). Develop, implement, and monitor calibration schedules for all measurement and test equipment (M&TE). Ensure traceability of measurements to national and international standards. Review and approve calibration reports, measurement data, and uncertainty analyses. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance measurement accuracy, efficiency, and laboratory processes. Train, mentor, and evaluate metrology technicians and staff. Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to support product validation and process control. Manage external calibration suppliers and service providers. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain proper environmental conditions within the lab. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to measurement discrepancies or equipment failures. Support internal and external audits related to metrology and calibration systems. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Metrology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, or quality engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong knowledge of measurement systems, calibration techniques, and uncertainty analysis. Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, and other applicable quality standards. Experience with precision measurement instruments (e.g., CMMs, micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical systems). Proficiency in statistical analysis and measurement system analysis (MSA/Gage R&R). Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency with calibration management software and Microsoft Office tools. Physical & Environmental Demands Work is performed in a laboratory and manufacturing environment. Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of equipment (up to 25–50 lbs). Frequent use of precision instruments requiring fine motor skills and visual acuity. Exposure to controlled environments with strict temperature and humidity requirements. May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in manufacturing areas. Time Travel Required Up to 10–20% travel may be required. Travel may include visits to supplier facilities, external calibration labs, training sessions, and company sites.
