Overview A key member of Western Union’s finance organization in Mexico, the Accounting Specialist is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of a legal entity, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in maintaining strong internal controls and supporting the business through reliable financial management. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and local regulations, while contributing to operational excellence and continuous process improvement. Responsibilities Accounting and bookkeeping activities, including posting entries to general ledgers, balancing statements and financial reports, calculating revenue recognition and billing. Responsible for accurate reporting of revenues & recoverable expenses and the collection, recording, and reporting of accounting transactions. Perform all duties inherent in a managerial role. Performing general ledger accounting and bookkeeping activities including review and approval. Financial statement preparation activities. Audit support preparation activities. Calculating revenue recognition and billing. Tax calculation and payment handling. Management reporting for CNBV and BANXICO, preparation of materials for Board meetings. Role Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least 5 years of experience in accounting. A good understanding of what impacts financial statements and how it links with accounting, tax, treasury, and other parts of the business. Experience working in companies in the financial or payment sector or IFPE's operations. Analytical mindset and customer focused. Previous experience in problem solving and critical thinking. Leadership skills, initiative, proactive attitude, presentation skills, analytical mindset, and customer focus. Advanced English level and intermediate/advanced Office package.
