Job Summary The Business Architect’s architecture is the \"connective tissue\" that integrates strategies across multiple programs and projects and ensures alignment with business strategies and outcomes. It is a series of explicit graphical models that define and describe the goals the business is trying to achieve, the processes needed to meet these goals, the data required, and the roles and responsibilities involved. A key focus of this role is on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Bill of Materials (BOM), Product Design, and Financial Product Costing, ensuring end‑to‑end alignment between product definition, engineering, manufacturing, and financial performance across the product lifecycle. Architects design processes and documentation that align business practices with strategic goals, lead implementations, optimize supply chain processes, and integrate AI technologies to enhance business planning and decision‑making. They produce supporting materials such as maps, models, process diagrams, and presentations to communicate their vision and guide stakeholders, and support consultations to assess business capabilities, define goals, and communicate designs to executives, managers, and end users. Responsibilities Strategy & Vision: Develop the architecture vision and roadmap for the product lifecycle and product costing process transformation, aligning with enterprise and stakeholder goals; manage the process of identifying opportunities, threats, and limitations of the organization and providing insights into the required work to facilitate implementation. Design & Architecture: Create detailed system designs, blueprints, and models for complex supply chain processes, including application considerations (SAP IBP, S/4HANA, MS4, etc.); research and recommend new technologies (AI, analytics, etc.) to improve efficiency and innovation. Business Case Development: Guide investment and ensure new work is consistent with the investment strategy of the organization; improve decision making on what to work on by ensuring all costs to manifest value are understood. Integration Leadership: Partner with business leaders, enterprise architects, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions; design integration strategies, data contracts, and APIs for seamless data flow between SAP and non‑SAP systems. Governance & Standards: Lead design governance, ensuring solutions meet security, reliability, and scalability standards. Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish and maintain contacts within business units and information system teams to understand business processes and drivers, business requirements, solutions strategies, alternatives, etc.; support the resolution of inter‑ and intra‑program & project issues. Education & Experience Four‑year or graduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or any related discipline, or equivalent work experience or demonstrated competence. Advanced university degree (preferred). Typically 7–10 years of work experience, preferably in supply chain, operations, information technology, or a related field. Proven experience in PLM and/or product costing within SAP environments (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP PLM, SAP CO‑PC). Knowledge & Skills Strong planning and analysis capabilities, including the development of models, graphical representations, and conceptual abstractions. Extensive experience (10+ years) with supply‑chain and enterprise application systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies. Advanced communication skills to engage diverse stakeholder groups and influence organizational change. Deep business acumen in PLM, including BOM, product design, and product costing, connecting engineering, manufacturing, and finance processes. Strong understanding of product data structures, lifecycle processes, and costing methodologies, enabling accurate product valuation and decision‑making. Advanced consulting skills—problem‑solving, prioritization, multi‑tasking, negotiation, and influence—to support decision‑making and facilitate group sessions.
