In this role, you will manage raw direct material categories and act as a vital bridge between suppliers and internal cross-functional teams. Your primary focus will be ensuring that cost, timing, and quality targets are successfully met across various programs. Key Responsibilities Sourcing Execution: Own and manage the sourcing process for raw direct materials from RFQ deployment through to final supplier nomination. Quote Evaluation: Analyze and negotiate supplier quotes, focusing closely on both piece/material cost and tooling cost optimization. Commercial Alignment: Ensure clear agreement on commercial terms, cost targets, and Engineering Development Deliverables (EDDs), factoring in material market fluctuations. Cost Analysis: Serve as a key resource for cost analysis, providing data-driven insights regarding raw material indexes and trends to engineering and project leadership. Design to Cost (DTC): Actively participate in and drive DTC initiatives alongside cross-functional teams to optimize product value and material utilization. Market Intelligence: Perform regular benchmarking, market analysis, and raw material index tracking to ensure supplier competitiveness. Supplier Management: Manage ongoing supplier relationships and monitor performance metrics across cost, quality, and delivery within strict industry standards. Cost Reduction: Identify, propose, and implement continuous cost-reduction and hedging strategies throughout the program lifecycle. Program Reporting: Prepare and present clear, concise sourcing updates during program reviews for internal stakeholders. Qualifications Experience: 3–5 years of strategic sourcing or program buying experience specifically within the automotive or aerospace industry . Category Expertise: Proven track record sourcing raw direct materials (e.g., metals, plastics, resins, or chemical compounds). Negotiation Skills: Solid experience in supplier negotiations, commercial contract terms, and raw material cost breakdown analysis. Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage mid-to-large scale purchasing projects and balance multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Technical Aptitude: Strong understanding of automotive/aerospace manufacturing processes, quality standards, and market cost drivers (e.g., index tracking like LME, CRU). Data Analytics: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis tools to manipulate complex pricing models. Methodologies: Experience with Design to Cost (DTC) practices and competitive benchmarking. Soft Skills: Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills. Language: Advanced or fluent English proficiency (written and spoken).
