Overview Electrical Engineer will contribute to the release of new products; work in a cross-functional development group; provide support and leadership to other engineers; manage a variety of tasks in a dynamic environment; and solve complex problems where no precedence exists. Responsibilities Design new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, process engineering, production, and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points. Perform engineering calculations using traditional methods to verify design requirements Create, evaluate, select and review electrical box and electrical panel layouts, ensuring proper component placement, selection, and compliance with applicable codes and standards Select and evaluate electrical components, instrumentation, and control devices Design/develop/create/review/revise 2D and 3D revision-controlled CAD for electro-mechanical assemblies, wire harnesses, routings, sizing, connection drawings, and customer-facing electrical diagrams using a Product Data Management (PDM) tool Develop/create/review/revise bills of material (BOM) and product definitions in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool to support reuse of existing designs, manufacturing, quality, and service Develop solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists; Implement product changes to solve field issues and support the service department Extended Responsibilities Work with software team to develop and verify CRAC system controls Support lab facilities with engineering prototypes and testing Support manufacturing during prototypes and pilot builds Participate in Design For Manufacturability (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEAs) Identify cost reduction opportunities and assist in design and development of cost reduction changes Basic Requirements Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related degree from an accredited college or university 5+ years of career experience in new product development as an individual contributor Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as part of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism Ability to mentor and guide less experienced team members History of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for product development processes Excellent project management and communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software; CREO 4.0 or newer preferred Knowledge of NEC (NFPA70), IEEE 519, UL 508A SB Knowledge of UL60335-2-40 or equivalent CSA/UL standards and UL508A Electrical Panels VFD programming and troubleshooting experience Experience with communications and interconnect standards and protocols including RS485, CAN, and Ethernet Preferred Requirements Knowledge of UL60335-2-40 or equivalent CSA/UL standards and UL508A Electrical Panels VFD programming and troubleshooting experience Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including RS485, CAN, and Ethernet Company Principles and Strategic Priorities The successful candidate will embrace Vertiv’s Core Principles and Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.
