We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help design, build, and scale the backend systems powering a B2B SaaS sports software platform. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex system challenges and helping evolve both the technology and the engineering practices of a growing product organization. In this role, you will architect and implement backend services and APIs that support large-scale, data-driven workflows across the platform. You will work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate product needs into performant, reliable backend solutions, while ensuring systems are designed for future growth and flexibility. Beyond hands‑on development, you will play a role in guiding architectural discussions, reviewing designs and implementations, mentoring engineers, and identifying opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and development processes. Your work will directly support the continued scaling of a modern sports SaaS product, balancing speed of delivery with long‑term technical health. Must Haves 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development Hands on experience building backend systems using Node.js, Python (FastAPI and/or Django), Go Experience building AWS Infrastructure with services RDS, Cloudwatch & MySQL database design and optimization Proven experience designing and supporting cloud‑native, distributed backend architectures for SaaS or B2B software products Strong understanding of API design, data modeling, and backend system performance at scale Experience working in scaling environments, where reliability, observability, and extensibility are critical Experience with observability using Datadog and additional tools Experience utilizing AI tools for code development and review – CloudCode or Claude Experience driving process improvements, such as improving development workflows, system reliability, deployment practices, or documentation Compensation $25-$27hr USD. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
