Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Automation Engineer.What you’ll do:PRIMARY FUNCTION:Eaton is seeking an Operation Technology / Automation Engineer within the Electrical Sector’s Protection, Control and Solutions business. The primary objective of this role is to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in manufacturing operations through the strategy deployment of industry 4.0 tools and technologies.The OT/Auto engineer’s responsibilities span two key areas: first, the deployment of automation technologies such as robots, cobots, autonomous mobile robots and material handling solutions; second, the establishment of digital connectivity for the monitor the performance and health of manufacturing assets. Additionally, the engineer will actively contribute to the overall deployment of other Industry 4.0 technologies, driving initiatives related to augmented reality, factory simulation, process control and traceability, digital work instructions, and additive manufacturing. As a jet driving force, the OT/Auto engineer will lead efforts to ensure the successful implementation of these technologies and contribute significantly to the advancement of Eaton’s manufacturing capabilities.The OT/Auto engineer will work across multiple plants within the 5 business units in PCS; PCD, ICD, Bussmann UL, LATAM and Canada FUNCTIONS:Manage Industry 4.0 projects including automation, Digital core, IIoT, additive manufacturing, systems integration and manage project objectives and timelines.Collaborate with cross-functional resources to execute projects – Plant Leadership, Information Technology, Operational Excellence, Production, Quality, Facilities and Engineering.Work closely with Electrical Sector central resources and subject matter experts.Guide & support plant teams on machine connectivity & data acquisition activitiesWork as liaison to divisional Digital Factory Engineer and Manufacturing leadersAlign Industry 4.0 project objectives to each plant’s continuous improvement initiativesAssist manufacturing teams in the development, submission & approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 project opportunitiesTrain key plant personnel on the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectivesDevelop knowledge & expertise in the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies to be a subject matter expert (SME) for the PCS business.Qualifications:Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechatronics or technical science from an accredited institutionMinimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, automation and/or IT project developmentKnowledge of electronic systems, electric cabinets or wiring of hardware (motors, PLC’s, sensors,...)Analytical and critical thinking – necessary for identification of issues and potential troubleshootingEnglish 80% or above, demonstrate ability to understand main ideas of manual reading and communicate casually with international colleagues and vendors.Preferred Qualifications:Desirable 5 years of experience in one of those manufacturing engineering (Manufacturing Engineering, IT network)Experience in controls engineering, programming, additive manufacturing, big data & analyticsUnderstanding of machine connectivity, communication protocols & data managementUnderstanding of IT infrastructure & system integrationProficient with computer and software tools – including advanced Excel capabilities (pivots, macros, etc.)Expertise in lean manufacturing & Six SigmaAbility to select and install PLC hardware and softwareAbility to operate and maintain PLC systems (Siemens, Rockwell, Eaton,..)Ability to evaluate and select electrical system components such as circuit protection devices, sensors, relays, actuators, timers, motors & various types of AC/DC drivesAbility to read & use wiring, connection, schematic, and ladder logic diagrams to troubleshoot control systemsAbility to setup industrial network devices (switches/routers) and connect these into the existing IT infrastructureKnowledge/Experience with setup of Kepware OPC system (optional)Ability to perform diagnostics on control hardware with the necessary SW packageKnowledge or experience with electric safety devices (switches, fuses, breakers) OptionalKnowledge or experience with Thingworx (PTC) platform (optional)Knowledge or experience with Reporting Systems (SSRS, QlikView) (optional)Ability to communicate complex technical terms to non-professionals working in the plant (management, department leaders,..)Skills:Position Criteria:Knowledge of Industrial IoT concepts & solutions Demonstrated project management experience, including risk management & change managementAbility to work independently and in a team environment; to communicate effectively and professionally across many organizational levels and functions and effectively build rapport with stakeholdersKnowledge of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, assembly & test, as well as materials management and quality processesProven problem-solving capabilityAbility to act as an agent of change, driving and enabling process changeKnowledge of lean manufacturing principles & toolsAbility to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyTakes initiative to develop personally and professional and actively seeks ways to grow and be challengedTravel requirements: Can be up to 50% at times but annually it will be around 25% - Frequent travel to El Paso, Beaver, PAADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Candidate must be able to travel to and outside of the continental United States including, but not limited to, the Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico and CanadaAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
