Cost Engineering Expert – Seats (Complete Seat & Components) We are looking for a Cost Engineering Expert specialized in complete seat systems and seat components to lead cost analysis, estimation, and optimization activities across multiple automotive programs. This role requires a deep understanding of seat design, manufacturing processes, and cost structures , as well as the ability to manage complex cost models and collaborate within global cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Develop and lead detailed cost models for complete seat systems, including structures, foam, trim, mechanisms, and electronics. Estimate variable and tooling costs for automotive seat components across different program phases. Perform should-cost analysis , supplier cost breakdowns, and benchmarking activities. Analyze and validate Bill of Materials (BOM) and identify key cost drivers. Evaluate manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, foam molding, cutting & sewing, assembly, and finishing. Support RFQs, sourcing strategies, and supplier negotiations . Drive design-to-cost and VA/VE initiatives in collaboration with engineering teams. Manage cost tracking across multiple programs simultaneously , ensuring alignment with financial targets. Support NRE and tooling cost analysis and investment evaluations. Collaborate with global teams across engineering, purchasing, finance, and program management . Technical Scope Cost engineering activities related to: Complete seat systems Seat structures (frames, tracks, recliners) Foam (cushion & backrest) Trim (fabric, leather, stitching) Mechanisms (manual & power adjusters) Electronics (heating, ventilation, sensors) Plastics, fasteners, and decorative components. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering . Proven experience in cost engineering, design, release, manufacturing, or processing roles within the automotive industry. Strong experience developing variable costs and tooling costs for automotive components. Solid knowledge of automotive production methods and vehicle development processes . Experience with seat systems or similar interior components is highly preferred. Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple programs and cost breakdowns simultaneously . Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills . English: Advanced (written and oral – global communication) . Ability to work effectively in a global and cross-functional team environment . Nice to Have Experience with Tier 1 suppliers (Adient, Lear, Forvia, Magna). Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, VA/VE, and cost optimization methodologies . Advanced Excel or cost modeling tools.
