Global (English) MONITORING TEAM LEAD (AVANGRID GOPTS) Job Description MONITORING TEAM LEAD PROFILE Degree Requirements University Degree (high) in a technical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Telecommunications, Mathematics, etc.) Demonstrable Experience At least 5 years of experience in team, project and decision‑making management tasks within its technological perimeter. Specific Knowledge BMC TrueSight Synthetic Monitoring, Elastic Synthetic Monitoring, BMC Entuity, BMC ProactiveNet Performance Manager, BMC Patrol Configuration Management, BMC Patrol Central and RTServers, OpsGenie, CA Spectrum. Main Functions and Tasks Definition of Monitoring Roles: Team collaborates with technical groups and project or application teams to help in the monitoring definition process. Evaluates monitoring needs for each solution. Identifies corporate or standard monitoring solutions that best suit the requirements. Designs monitoring strategies for new solutions, applications, or infrastructure. Implements, tests, and standardizes new solutions. Documents all monitoring designs. Integrates monitoring tasks into incident and change processes. Configuration of Monitors and Metrics: Ensures installation of monitoring tools on necessary systems. Configures monitors following corporate standards. Applies relevant performance metrics for comprehensive monitoring. Enriches event data for better incident context. Automates basic expert monitor installation and updates the installed base. Creates requests or automations to deploy monitors or modify metrics. Reduces manual enrichment by delegating information to the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Manages the relationship of alerts with Configuration Items (CIs) and their service impact. Installation of Monitoring Agents: Automates agent installation on new servers. Updates agent versions at least once a year for new installations, ensuring they stay out of support. Monitoring Deactivation: Removes agents when no longer needed. Suspends monitoring when necessary. Deactivates specific metrics or monitors as required. Automates the server deactivation process and extends it to other use cases. Patrol Agent Updates: Promotes regular Patrol Agent version updates to prevent obsolescence or end‑of‑support issues. Updates all Patrol Agent versions at least every two years, or sooner if EOS is approaching. Updates all KM Expert versions at least every two years, or sooner if EOS is approaching. Synthetic Web Transactions: Manages web synthetic transactions. Records, modifies, and deletes synthetic web browsing of corporate applications and services. Configures metrics, sets up alerting, and establishes procedures. Analyzes navigation problems for incident management. Manages changes with owners and re‑records transactions. Documents and maintains information about synthetic navigations. Manages alert relationships with CIs and service impact. Reports and exports data for dashboards. Publishes configuration of synthetic navigations for global queries and discloses details. Network Monitoring: Manages network monitoring. Adds, deletes, and modifies network devices in the monitoring solution. Configures SNMP credentials for monitoring. Configures monitoring metrics. Enriches alerting and integrates with TrueSight. Configures monitoring based on TRAPs, loads MIBs, and performs parameterization. Documents carried‑out configuration. Publishes network monitoring configuration for global queries and discloses details. Keeps monitoring information and CMDB synchronized, enriching alerts with CMDB data. Creates reporting where necessary. Security Patching of the Infrastructure: Applies critical updates for vulnerabilities reported by manufacturers or cybersecurity groups. Conducts proactive security analysis of managed infrastructure. Submits critical vulnerability reports and mitigation plans. Plans critical security patching and update plans. Performs security or defect patching (minor updates) at least once a year. Infrastructure Upgrade: Updates product versions before end of support. Updates current infrastructure (over‑the‑top) without requiring new infrastructure or product changes. Plans infrastructure upgrades without new architecture changes or product changes at least once every two years. Project Assistance: Analyzes monitoring requirements for implementation or evolution projects of infrastructure, applications, and services. Plans tasks and effort. Assigns resources to projects. Designs monitoring solutions. Tests solutions. Constructs and deploys solutions, including new integration models based on managed monitoring applications. Documents solutions. Publishes and maintains the configuration of application monitoring roles for global queries and discloses details. Third Party Assistance: Assists in resolving doubts of users and technical teams. Manages mail queue and responds to users. Provides information on monitoring, operational procedures, change templates, requests, incidents, projects, etc. Schedules and attends meetings with users, technical teams, suppliers, etc. Proactively manages queries made by email and Teams.
