Data Engineer Location: Remote (Mexico) | Type: Contract | Experience: 3 to 5+ years | Pay: Hourly, open based on experience About the Role We're hiring a Data Engineer to design and run the Azure data platform that powers analytics and AI work for a crafts-based digital product studio. This is hands-on infrastructure and pipeline work: you'll stand up the cloud foundation, build the lakehouse, and move real enterprise data, including SAP, into a place where data scientists and analysts can actually use it. The studio designs, builds, and scales custom enterprise software for clients across complex, traditionally underserved industries, with emerging AI models built into what they ship. Backed by a global strategy consulting parent, the team works at enterprise scale while keeping the speed and craft of a small group. This role sits at the center of that work, since none of the AI or analytics happens without a solid data layer underneath it. If you like owning a platform end to end, from resource groups and RBAC up through Gold-layer Delta tables, rather than inheriting someone else's half-built pipeline, you'll feel at home here. What You'll Do Create and manage Azure infrastructure, including Resource Groups, Storage Accounts, and RBAC Design and maintain Data Lakes on ADLS Gen2 using a Bronze, Silver, and Gold architecture Build and optimize Delta Lake tables and Databricks workloads Manage the Hive Metastore and Unity Catalog Ingest data from SAP source systems (ECC, BW, S/4HANA, or similar) into the Azure Data Lake Develop scalable ETL and ELT pipelines with Spark, PySpark, and SQL Spin up secure sandbox environments where data scientists and analysts can work without risk to production Implement CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code, with Terraform as the preferred tool Qualifications 3 to 5+ years building and operating data platforms on Azure Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and the lakehouse pattern (Bronze/Silver/Gold) Proficiency with Spark/PySpark and SQL for large-scale ETL and ELT Working knowledge of ADLS Gen2, Hive Metastore, and Unity Catalog Experience ingesting from SAP systems such as ECC, BW, or S/4HANA Comfort managing Azure infrastructure directly, including RBAC and storage configuration Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally Terraform, and a real CI/CD discipline Fluent English and the ability to collaborate across a distributed team Degree from Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) is HIGHLY preferred Why Join Us You'll join a team that treats software like a craft, where engineers, designers, and data people work side by side and the bar for what ships is high. The work is genuinely enterprise scale, but you won't get lost in process, since you'll own the data platform and see your decisions show up directly in what analysts and AI systems can do. For a data engineer who wants to build the foundation rather than patch around one, this is the kind of role worth taking. To apply, click Apply on LinkedIn and visit eliosai.com/browse-jobs
