Hardware Design Engineer The Hardware Design Engineer is responsible for the detailed design, implementation, and verification of hardware components in line with defined requirements, architecture, and quality standards. Responsibilities Design hardware: create detailed hardware requirements from architecture requirements and develop detailed designs, including considerations for environment, EMC, and voltage‑compatibility conditions. Create layouts & BOMs: produce PCB layouts and bills of material, ensuring compliance with design rules and guidelines. Validate design: perform simulations, calculations, and design analyses; conduct design failure and safety analyses (DFMEA, FTA, FMEDA) and reliability predictions. Integrate & verify: perform hardware integration, bring‑up, and verification activities, including laboratory measurements; conduct verification reviews on circuit designs, PCB layouts, and BOMs. Document & traceability: create and maintain design specifications, interface descriptions, change requests, and design review material; ensure traceability to requirements and architecture. Collaborate & mitigate risk: work with systems, software, mechanics, test, and production teams to ensure design compatibility; identify and report technical risks or issues and propose mitigation measures. Decision authority: modify hardware designs within defined scope, establish design alternatives, approve own work products before internal review, submit for official approval, and suggest cost, performance, and manufacturability optimizations. Success Criteria Detailed hardware designs, PCB layouts, and BOMs that meet requirements, architecture, and design rules. Validated, robust, reliable, and cost‑effective designs backed by simulations and safety analyses. Successful hardware integration, bring‑up, and verification with clear laboratory evidence. Transparent, traceable documentation linking every design decision to requirements and architecture. Core Competencies PCB layout and BOM creation. Design for EMC, environment, and voltage compatibility. Simulation, calculation, safety, and reliability analyses. Hardware integration, bring‑up, and laboratory verification. Cross‑domain collaboration and traceability discipline. Qualifications Hardware design engineering background with hands‑on PCB layout and BOM creation. Knowledge of design for EMC, environment, and voltage compatibility. Experience with simulations, design analyses, and safety/reliability methods (DFMEA, FTA, FMEDA). Hardware integration, bring‑up, and laboratory verification experience. Strong documentation and cross‑domain collaboration skills.
