Roles and Responsibilities Define, lead, and implement BioMarin’s patient advocacy activities in assigned therapeutic areas and geographies, ensuring patient insights inform key business decisions Position BioMarin as a global leader in patient advocacy; represent the company and build trust with advocacy groups Develop initiatives to connect patient communities with Business Unit/International teams and advance key priorities Build open, transparent relationships with key PAGS; identify opportunities for strong partnerships, including co‑created/collaborative programs Implement community outreach from preclinical development through commercialization to inform clinical trial design and understand patient need; ensure feedback is delivered to the community Coordinate patient advocacy interactions across internal functions (Commercial, R&D, Medical Affairs) to present a unified community vision Ensure patient advocacy engagements/activations align with business priorities Support the Patient Advocacy Therapeutic Area/Geography Lead and represent Patient Advocacy in cross‑functional governance forums Serve as a point of contact for patient group inquiries (including grants and sponsorships) with compliant guidance Develop strategic patient advocacy plans aligned with other functional areas; invest appropriate resources at the right time Manage budget and accurately forecast/adjust spend to align with business priorities Support opportunities for employees to understand the lived experiences of patients and families affected by genetically defined conditions Travel: approx. 30% Qualifications 10+ years of patient advocacy experience in healthcare/biopharma (rare disease experience preferred) Proven patient engagement/advocacy track record with demonstrated impact across preclinical research, clinical trials, and commercial outputs Sound judgment; ability to work seamlessly internally and externally Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and build consensus Knowledge of regulations governing patient advocacy and understanding of the regulatory/healthcare environment in the assigned area/geography Collaborative working style; BS/BA in science, business, or liberal arts (advanced degree preferred) Workstyle Remote possible; if within 100 miles of San Rafael, CA headquarters, role is hybrid with on‑site requirements 2x weekly; preference for San Rafael‑based candidate #J-18808-Ljbffr
